Recently, I found myself in a McDonald’s drive-thru. Obviously, a place designed for efficiency and common rules. But as I watched someone cut the line and realize no one was going to stop them, I felt a familiar weight. It wasn’t just about the fast food; it was about the growing realization that the “referees” of our society have left the field.
Whether it’s the church, the government, or the local community center, there is a sense of what Strauss and Howe call Institutional Decay. Instead of serving their mission, many organizations are now simply “circling the wagons” to protect their own existence.
This increases our loneliness, isolation, and mistrust. It’s a vicious circle. But in this episode, we talk about the way out and the way back. Join me as we search for hope in the wilderness!
